Face to Face sessions on hold until further notice

posted 17 Mar 2020, 18:39 by Shenton Park Playgroup

How are you all in these surreal times? We received recommendation today from Playgroup WA that it would be ideal for playgroups to put face to face sessions on hold at this stage due to the difficulty in social distancing at playgroups.

We are following these recommendations and will be putting face to face sessions on hold until further notice. Playgroup WA is working to provide innovative ways for families to connect during these times. We will also be looking for ways of our family to connect. We will set up a group for all of our families to connect we just haven't figured out which platform is best yet, we will keep in touch. We will also use our facebook and insta pages to give you ideas of fun activities to do with the kids.

Shenton Park Playgroup in 2020

posted 18 Jan 2020, 22:16 by President Shenton Park Playgroup

We are very excited for the year ahead at Shenton Park Playgroup. In 2019 we managed to secure a grant from Lotterywest and PlaygroupWA that allowed us to purchase new toys and equipment and underwent a series of renovations to improve playgroup for our members. We are putting the final touches on these in the next couple of weeks and a new and improved SPPG will be ready for the new playgroup year starting in February.

Our focus has been on making our playgroup friendly, inclusive, sustainable and nature based. Watch out for more details and photos in this space and on our social media soon. We can't wait to share it with you!

Get in touch if you are interested in attending a trial in February sppg.memberships@gmail.com

Halloween Party

posted 23 Oct 2018, 22:38 by President Shenton Park Playgroup

Every year we have a little disco for the playgroup kids. It is a super fun night with entertainment for the kids and a sausage sizzle.

This year we are having a Halloween disco for a bit of fun. Dress up in your Halloween bests and come party with Encore Entertainment who will be entertaining the kids with music and dancing.

We are also opening the disco up to other families in the local area. Please remember this event is for 0-5 yr olds, although older siblings are most welcome.

Included in the costs of the tickets is the entertainment and a sausage sizzle. So the kids can go home tired, fed and ready for bed ;) We will have some vegetarian sausages as well.

Starting time is 4pm, the entertainment will go until 5.30pm then the sausage sizzle.

Tickets are $10 per child and an additional $3/adult that would like a cheeky sausage sizzle.

You can book tickets online at

Under the Sea - Free School Holiday Activities

posted 2 Sep 2018, 20:54 by President Shenton Park Playgroup   [ updated 12 Sep 2018, 20:50 ]

We are very excited about our community recycled craft day this October school holidays to create some wonderful ocean inspired public art.

Come along and use recycled products to make wonderful ocean inspired craft. All our activities will be tailored to suit age groups. You could make a jellyfish, fish, turtle or some seaweed and waves, let your imagination run wild.

We are hoping that you will be happy to leave your art with us so we can hang it in our onslow road courtyard for the whole community to see as they wander down onlsow road. If you have a little extra time you can always make a little something to take home too :)

This is a free event open to everyone in the community. We are running two sessions, please head over to eventbrite to book your spot. We will be holding a wonderful homebaked cookie sale in between the two events so come prepared for some tasty treats.

This is not a drop and leave sessions, children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Age ranges are not strict, if you have children in both age groups feel free to come along to one session all together and just choose which will best suit your family.

We would like to thank the City of Subiaco for supporting us to run this event!

Session for Allergy Families

posted 9 Apr 2018, 23:46 by President Shenton Park Playgroup   [ updated 1 May 2018, 00:23 ]

We are hoping to open a session specifically aimed at families dealing with food allergies. Knowing all too well the challenges of raising children with allergies, we are hoping that such a session will provide a space for families to connect in a supportive environment.

We have all the things children and parents need to relax and play including indoor and outdoor toys, arts and crafts supplies and a great outdoor play space. There are also useful facilities such as a toilet, change table and importantly tea and coffee supplies in our kitchen.

We are an allergy aware and nut free playgroup.

To get an understanding of the potential interest in this session we are holding an Allergy Family Open Day on Tuesday May 8th from 3pm-5pm.

If you are interested please let us know by sending an email to sppg.president@gmail.com and we will send you more specific details in the weeks to come.

Mothers’/Parents’ Groups Welcome!

posted 7 Mar 2018, 21:13 by President Shenton Park Playgroup

If you are a group of parents or carers looking for a relaxed and fun place to catch up, our playgroup is the place!

Many of us started our playgroup adventures with our mothers’ groups and have met many new friends along the way and felt part of a fantastic community. Our playgroup is a safe and relaxed environment to catch up with other parents and families. We have all the facilities you need for yourself and your children.

We have;

  •          A kitchen with tea, a coffee machine and a fridge,
  •          A change table and a toilet,
  •          Plenty of space to park prams,
  •        A gated playground,
  •        Baby toys and play mats.
Many groups move to us when their babies have outgrown prams and cafes and are on the move. However, our facilities are also great for new parents and mothers’/parents’ groups who are looking for an easy space to catch up. Our annual membership fee is yearly and we charge on a pro-rata basis so you only pay for the time that you join. The membership fee works out to less than $4 a session, around the cost of a cup of coffee, which we have for free at playgroup!

We currently have a number of open and empty sessions perfect for groups to join. Please see the timetable attached to this post. If you are interested get in contact and we can have a chat about how playgroup may work for you and we can organise a time to show you around the venue and facilities.

Mothers’/parents’ groups are also welcome to join our current sessions as long as we have enough space in the session to accommodate your group.
